Happy Feet

Finally, the Shertlands were all successfully trimmed at the weekend.  Fern was relatively easy to catch, (which is a miracle in itself), the sun was shining and the Farrier even arrived 10 minutes early!  You could have knocked me down with a feather. 
Tia did attempt standing on 2 legs at one point just as the Farrier was working on a back hoof, but then she decided it was much too difficult to sustain and stood quietly while he finished her trim.  A few moments later a large truck drove past on the road and not realising there are some low hanging tree branches over the road, he smashed into the tree, creating a loud bang, which made all the Shetlands jump in unison.  But the truck set off again and a few bangs later he reached the end of the road.  All in all, the day was a success.

German Shepherd

My latest creation is Max the GSD.  As you can see I've given him a big tongue because every time I look at my own GSD, she has her tongue hanging out and sits there panting, even in sub-zero temperatures. Max is now on ebay until 20th November 2011.

Hoof Trimming Time

Today was the 2nd appointment for the Shetlands to have their hooves trimmed and as usual the day was a disaster.
The original appointment last week was cancelled due to heavy rainfall as the trimming has to be done outside.
So today the outlook was good, the sky was clear and I went to catch the Shetlands so they would be ready and waiting for when the Farrier arrived. After catching Holly and Tia, I went to get Fern. Unfortunately, Fern had different plans and decided she was not having her hooves trimmed today. After over an hour trying to catch her I realised the Farrier should have arrived by now. After several failed attempts to reach him on the phone (a common occurrence) and as it was now getting dark, I gave it up as a bad job and released Holly and Tia. I finally got through to the Farrier later in the evening (with no explanation for the failed visit) and made a 3rd appointment for the weekend. Oh joy!
