Jigsaw

Since the rains had abated over the weekend I decided to take Jigsaw out for a leisurely ride. Every once in a while, Jigsaw can be difficult to catch, I just have to make sure he doesn't see the lead rope. When I arrived at the field he was standing by the gate and offered no resistance as I tied and tacked him up. Ready to set off I opened the gate to lead him onto the lane. Just at this moment all the other horses decided they were going to sprint off to the other side of the field and not wanting to be left out, Jigsaw set off to join them. I was hanging on to his lead rope but being dragged by a 3/4 ton horse through slippery mud was not the easiest thing to do and as the rope slipped through my fingers I was left watching Jigsaw gallop away across the field all tacked up for a ride. I knew he would never let me get near him and I had visions of him spending the night in his field complete with saddle and bridle. There was only one thing that would bring him to me - food. Fortunately Hector's dinner was all prepared so I grabbed the bucket and headed towards the end of the field. The other horses came up to me while Jigsaw watched from a distance. The temptation was too much though and he plodded towards me, rammed his head in the bucket as I caught hold of his reins and breathed a sigh of relief. Hector was very upset that her dinner was being shared and jigsaw was annoyed that he still had to go for a ride - but I didn't want him to think this was a good way of getting out of doing some work. It was a very enjoyable ride though.
